The Riverside High School Athletic Booster Club is committed to providing student-athletes at Riverside High School the very best facilities, equipment, protection and opportunities. We raise funds for uniforms, training equipment and team support.
Women’s Soccer tryouts will take place on Monday, February 15th – Wednesday, February 17th at the Stadium Field from 3 PM – 4:30 PM each day. Check-in starts at 2:45 PM each day. All participants should bring cleats, Running Shoes, indoor shoes, water, a ball, and shin guards every day of tryouts.
There will be early tryout registration Tuesday, February 9th – Thursday, February 11th. Upper classmen will be present in the cafeteria taking names and/or paperwork during all lunches. We encourage all those who are interested in trying out to sign up during lunch to make the check-in process as short as possible.
Riverside is hosting the PAC-6 conference basketball tournaments (boys & girls) Feb 17, 18, & 19. (That is next week!) The basketball coaches have asked the booster club to help host the hospitality room for visiting coaches and officials. The room will be open 5-10 PM each day, and Riverside will be feeding 25-30 people per night.
The Booster Club needs help requesting food donations from area restaurants and stores, food donations from parents, and with setting up the room each day. They need 2-3 volunteers each day to maintain the room. You may volunteer to make donations or work the hospitality room here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f094fa4a823a57-pac6.
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated! Let's show these other schools how hospitality is done!
We are still on track for the BBQ fundraiser on March 18. We will have BBQ plates with slaw, potato salad, and a roll for $7 or one pound cups of BBQ for $7. Toppy Green will be cooking again this year. For those of you who got his BBQ last time, you know how good it is! Thank you to those of you who have already volunteered to help out. To volunteer for cooking and prep on March 17 or for plating and/or deliveries on March 18, please go to this link to sign up:http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f094fa4a823a57-bbqvolunteers.
We also need a lot of help with ticket sales. Sarah Bell, the RHS Athletics Trainer, has tickets to sell at the school. A number of coaches and athletes have tickets to sell as well. Orders may also be placed online and paid by credit card through the website at this link: https://leagueathletics.com/UserForm.asp?n=141211&org=rhsboosterclub.
We still need three more pig cookers to use on March 17. If you have a cooker that Toppy could use, please let us know. We would like to avoid having to pay to rent cookers if we can.
You may be asking yourself why we are we raising money? DPS’ support of athletics is very limited – just $14,000 per year for Riverside, with much of that paid right back to DPS for use of the activity buses. The booster club has raised and spent $62,000 over the last 4 years in support of all 19 sports. You can see what we’ve done together here: https://leagueathletics.com/Page.asp?n=84811&org=rhsboosterclub.
I have heard from coaches about needs for baseball, women’s basketball, football, softball, and track & field. In order to meet these and other future needs, we need your help. Please go ahead and place your BBQ orders today!
NCHSAA Conference Realignment to Change RHS Rivals
The NCHSAA just released proposed conference realignments for the 2017-18 school year. Here is the proposed 4A conference for Riverside: Athens Drive, Cary, Green Hope, Jordan, Panther Creek, Riverside.
No more Northern, Hillside, Person, East Chapel Hill, or Cardinal Gibbons. All but Gibbons will be dropping to 3A.
Most of our current PAC-6 conference rivals will end up in this 3A conference: Cedar Ridge, Chapel Hill, East Chapel Hill, Hillside, Northern, Northwood, Orange, Southern.
Conference realignment happens every four years to account for changes in the number of students enrolled in each school. The NCHSAA is using a new process where only the top 20% of schools will be 4A instead of the previous 25%. The new conferences have not been named and will not be final for a while.
